At Afghan Coalition, we are proud to be part of the Public Health Institute’s initiative focused on building mental health capacity for refugees and Afghan newcomers. Our project provides trauma-informed, client-centered, and culturally responsive non-clinical mental health services, helping participants overcome the stigma surrounding mental health care. We support Afghan humanitarian parolees and special immigrant visa (SIV) holders through a range of activities, including support groups, cultural events, and educational workshops.
By engaging over 150 individuals throughout Alameda County, our services aim to foster connection, reduce feelings of isolation, and promote mental well-being. Our team offers peer support, community counseling, and coordination of care, ensuring that participants have access to the resources they need to thrive in their new communities.
