Afghan Health Leadership Consortium

The Afghan Health Leadership Consortium (AHLC)
Led by the Afghan Coalition, the Afghan Health Leadership Consortium (AHLC) unites community-based organizations, civic, and municipal agencies to serve the Afghan community throughout Alameda County and the greater Bay Area. Facilitated by Dr. Valerie Smith, Certified Health Education Specialist, the AHLC holds quarterly meetings. Since the COVID pandemic, these virtual meetings have expanded to include participants from across the state and beyond.

The Consortium focuses on health topics specific to the Afghan community, aimed at service providers, educators, and community leaders. Following the crisis in Afghanistan, AHLC has centered discussions on the unique needs of new arrivals. Recent topics include Refugee Resettlement, Welcoming Afghan Arrivals, and Families in Transition: Afghanistan One Year Out. At our August 8, 2024, conference, over 140 professionals attended, reflecting the growing commitment to addressing Afghan community health challenges.

Uniting for Afghan Health: The Afghan Health Leadership Consortium, led by Afghan Coalition, brings together over a hundred professionals to address Afghan community health challenges across California and beyond.

Leading Afghan Health Solutions: Afghan Coalition’s Consortium drives vital discussions on Afghan-specific health needs, engaging professionals and leaders statewide.
