As the Program Director of the Afghan Women’s Breast Cancer Project in collaboration with the University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Aida Shirazi pioneered the development and training of the first cohort of community cancer health navigators and caregivers for Afghan women in the Bay Area. This initiative significantly increased early detection rates of breast cancer within the Afghan immigrant and refugee community.
Currently, Dr. Shirazi serves as the Lead Research Program Manager at the Graduate Medical Education Department of Kaiser Permanente San Francisco, where she provides research education and training to hundreds of physician fellows and residents.
With a background in Public Health and Community-Based Participatory Research, Dr. Shirazi brings over 15 years of experience working with community-based organizations that serve diverse and vulnerable populations. Her mission is to address critical health issues in the Afghan community and to develop impactful programs that improve the quality of life for Afghan families and future generations.
