Afghan Wellness Project provides Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) services to individuals and families at risk for serious mental health issues, while reducing the stigma associated with seeking mental health support through community education and awareness. Our goal is to prevent mental illness from becoming debilitating.
The Afghan Wellness Project bridges cultural and language barriers between community members and mental health services. We support immigrants, families under stress, at-risk youth, isolated or trauma-exposed individuals, and those at risk of serious mental health issues. PEI services are offered in Dari, Pashto, and English. From September 2023 to September 2024, our team provided a total of 194 individual counseling sessions and prevention visits, with 51% of our services dedicated to youth programs.
