SEED Thrive: Empowering Afghan Entrepreneurs in California

SEED Thrive is Afghan Coalition’s dedicated pathway for Afghan immigrants who dream of launching—or strengthening—a business that serves their communities. Powered by the Social Entrepreneurs for Economic Development (SEED) 2.5 Grant, this initiative is funded through California General Fund dollars administered by the Employment Training Panel and the Labor & Workforce Development Agency.
Our program removes traditional barriers to entrepreneurship by offering:

  • Entrepreneurial training—from legal compliance to business and financial planning and digital marketing—delivered in Dari, Pashto, and/or English.
  • Micro-grants to supply crucial start-up capital.
  • One-on-one technical assistance and culturally responsive mentorship that continues well past your business launch.

Training is provided through a hybrid model: in-person workshops plus virtual sessions that reach Afghan entrepreneurs across the state. Whether you face limited English proficiency, immigration hurdles, or other employment challenges, SEED Thrive equips you with the skills, resources, and support network to build a sustainable, socially responsible enterprise—strengthening Afghan families and driving inclusive economic growth throughout California.
